Linkr: Support

  • syzygymedia · 2 months ago
Is there anyway to link to an article on a page without generating a new page with only that article? I want to simply click a link at the top of the page that jumps the page down to an article much lower on the same page... keeping the other articles in view in case the visitor wants to see them.
  • l33p · 2 months ago
When linking to another article, Linkr can find the anchors in that article and you can choose to link to them. Just click on "Configure link" and pick the anchor you want before clicking on "Get link".

If you want to link to an anchor within the same article, try using you're editor's functionality. Or you can save that article and try linking it through Linkr too.
  • syzygymedia · 2 months ago
This is hard for me to communicate. Let's say I have a page called george.html, and on that page is 10 articles. At the top of the page, inside of Article 1, I use Linkr to create links to all of the other articles. Is there anyway to have it so that when a user clicks my link for Article 9, let's say, that it goes to the article 9, moving down the page, instead of generating a new page. I want people to see Article 8 above the one they are reading and Article 10 beneath it. Thanks in advance! Great tool (and even better if it can do this).
  • l33p · 2 months ago
I don't think Linkr can do that. The only way it could work is if you were to add HTML anchors at the beginning of each article (example: #article-1, #article-2, etc...) and then use Linkr to add the links to each anchor in the first article.
  • OSI · 3 months ago
Link looks like a really great tool and I used it to add Digg and that was easy, Related articles, also easy. When going to add a link to text though, it doesn't work. It will find the article, I can modify the link information, but when I go to click on "Get link"....nothing. At bottom left of browser is Javascript void(o) when I hover over the text. I have tried this in IE 7.0 and Firefox and the same thing. I have also done this in 2.35 and 2.34 after uninstalling 2.35. Very strange since the other functionality works just find just the "Get link" that is failing to work.

I also tried your demo and it all works just fine. I host at Inmotionhosting

Are you using the JCE editor? They already have a fix for that. See the FAQs page (it's the first item)
  • aworriedozzie · 4 months ago
Just downloaded 2.3.4 Am using Joomla 1.5. I want to add a link from a person's name within an article to a contact. I select the name, click Linkr, click on Contacts, click on the person's hyperlinked name and all it does is shoot to the top of the popup window. No link added. There is no add link option or anything.

    What am I doing wrong???
  • l33p · 4 months ago
Which editor are you using? and in which browser?

There is in fact a bug with the "contacts" page which affects the newer versions of Joomla!

Tried to use this to put a link onto an image to a content article and also a section/category list and I just lost my image which was replaced by text. How do I get it onto an image
  • l33p · 5 months ago
Just select the image and click the Linkr button. Which editor are you using?
  • MJobes · 5 months ago
Using Tiny MCE but the problem is that the comments replace the image when clicking "get link"
  • l33p · 5 months ago
Have you upgraded to Joomla! 1.5.12? The latest Joomla! version has a different version of TinyMCE, which isn't compatible with Linkr yet (Joomla! 1.5.12 came out after Linkr).
  • Maik · 5 months ago
    Hi,

nice tool... but I updated to 234 and also JCE to the newest version and now I can click on "Get link" a thousend times and nothing happens. With JCE 152 it is working... but not with 154.

HELP... my fault or do you have to change your code?

    Thx
    Maik
  • l33p · 5 months ago
Linkr was tested on JCE 1.5.3. You're probably not doing anything wrong; I'll have to upgrade and see.
  • Maik · 5 months ago
I tested it with JCE 152 and 153 and it is working.
Only the newest JCE has problems.
    Thank you
  • l33p · 5 months ago
    Hi

Do your other buttons work (i.e. Image, Pagebreak, etc)?
  • KK · 5 months ago
I had the same issues as Maik, and none of my other buttons worked either. Downgraded to JCE 153 and now things seem to be working okay. Looks like a JCE 154 bug.
  • l33p · 5 months ago
According to the JCE forums, it's indeed a bug. I guess we'll have to wait until they release a patch, or as you did KK, downgrade to 1.5.3
  • Antonino · 5 months ago

Running Joomla! 1.5.11. Just installed Linkr 2.3.4, default config. Running JCE 1.56. I have used linkr 2.3.3 successfully.
Problem appears to be similar to previous comments; any attempt to link just sits there and never ends. JavaScript error is:

    Line: 81
    Char: 52
    Error: Syntax error
    Code: 0
    URL: http://example.com/administrator/index.php?opti...
  • l33p · 5 months ago
What happens exactly? How far can you go before Linkr stops working?
  • BWAChuck · 5 months ago
I click the linkr button at the bottom of the editor window and a popup window appears; it displays Articles and a or search with a rotating wheel. Status line shows Done with error indicator. Double click on the error indicator and the previously reported error is displayed. I can click on the search link and it allows me to enter the section and select from the drop down but when I click search it simply produces the same error and never does return articles. I can also click the Article menu item with the same results. If I select Menu it displays my menus, if I attempt to expand one it simply hangs with the wheel, and produces the same error. If I select Contacts it shows form and the wheel under Select a contact is spinning but nothing ever happens and that same error occurs. In short, it occurs everywhere when trying to retrieve some information.
  • l33p · 4 months ago
I can't tell what's wrong right now. If 2.3.3 was working fine, you can keep using it; 2.3.4 doesn't bring any new features, except the "popup" mode for Internet Explorer (which I think you're using).

I'll have to look into it.
  • jimmykarlsen · 5 months ago
I'm having trouble with "safe_mode on" at my domain and wondered if you could tell where the three files should go so I can install them manually?

    I have v.1.5.9.
I noticed that com.linkr backend is supposed to be in administrator/components/com_linkr but what about frontend, and the button and content files?

I would really appreciate an answer, thank you!
  • l33p · 4 months ago
In com.linkr, there are two folders: "backend" goes where you said, and "frontend" goes in "YOUR-SITE/components/com_linkr". The plg.linkr_button files go in "plugins/editors-xtd" and the plg.linkr_content files go in "plugins/content".

Also, Linkr uses the database to store the bookmark buttons. So if you're going to use them, let me know and I'll help you install the database table.

Safe mode is keeping you from using the Joomla! installer?
  • dennisgreenair · 5 months ago
    Hi

Uploaded the plugin and all looks fine. I have 1.5.10

Did the linkr in www.greenairclub.com/directory and in preview works fine, however on the site, gives me error page.

Also gave me this page http://www.greenairclub.com/index.php/component... instead of SEF http://www.greenairclub.com/index.php/list

When I add list to the top menu and link to article works fine

    Error page details

Am I doing something wrong here?
  • l33p · 4 months ago
Make sure you've enabled "Article slug" in the plugin parameters (Administrator > Extensions > Plugin Manager > Content - Linkr > Advanced parameters)

Also, make sure you're using Linkr 2.3.4.

Post back here if it's still not working right.
  • dennisgreenair · 4 months ago
    Thanks.

    Checked and slug was enabled

So unpublished the Top Menu link and straight away lost intra-page link again.

    Any other thoughts?
  • l33p · 4 months ago
If enabling the slug worked, and then unpublishing the menu link broke the link, then it might have something to do with caching. Wait for a while and see if your links are still broken.

The links shouldn't be broken though. Are you using an SEF extension (like sh404SEF, or ArtioJoomSEF, or others)?
  • Stefan · 4 months ago
Nothing happens when I choose the article and click to "Get link". I'm using Linkr 2.3.4 and JCE 1.5.4 ...

What could be the problem ?

    Regards

    Stefan
  • Stefan · 4 months ago
The problem seems to be solved. After reinstall JCE 1.5.2, everything works fine.
Linkr obviously doesn't work fine with JCE 1.5.4 ...
  • l33p · 4 months ago
The problem might be coming from JCE 1.5.4, since the other buttons (like Image, Read more, etc) didn't work either.

JCE will probably release a patch soon enough.

    Hi,
Great component but I can't choose my default image folder.
testing changing it in the linkr or in joomla configuration, but no way.
I'd like to have only the last folder in images/stories/download.
    Any idea?

Is a version compatible with the TinyMCE of Joomla 1.5.12 likely to be available soon?

To answer my own question, found a 2.3.4a patch at

Installing the upgrade package over 2.3.4 fixed the problem of Linkr replacing the selected text/image.

    Hi,
First, thanks a lot for a very useful and easy-to-use extension!
When adding a link to a contact, Linkr creates a 'mailto' link. Any way to link to the page showing the contact details, like the menu entry does?
    Greets
    --Pierre
  • l33p · 4 months ago
There's no way to do that. That will very likely be a feature in a future version though..
  • joomsmurf · 4 months ago
Using Linkr 2.3.4a with joomla 1.5.12, When I select a section, category and then the article I get the "Database Error: Query string is empty"
  • l33p · 4 months ago
Can't tell why you're getting this error.. I'll have to look into it.
So, as soon as you select an article from the dropdown list, you see the "loading" animation, and then the page goes blank with that error, is that right?
  • joomsmurf · 4 months ago
Thanks for looking into it, much appreciated! This website is for a charity that I have volunteered to help out on. I have emailed you the details to your gmail account on your domain. • dennisgreenair · 4 months ago
    Hi again

    I really appreciate your help

Have only System SEF that I can see.

Have deleted caching but problem remains

Don't know what to try next
  • l33p · 4 months ago
At this point, I can't tell. Try turning off SEF URLs for your site, and post an example of the URL here (like you did in the previous posts)
  • dennisgreenair · 4 months ago
    Hi again

Tried that - made no difference.

URL for affected page is http://www.greenairclub.com/index.php/directory

There is a "click here" link under the second heading which is meant to go to the List page - http://www.greenairclub.com/index.php/list - but only generates an error page (in my browser anyway) when Top Menu List Page is unpublished

Again works fine when Top Menu includes List page link

Link shows correct page url so don't know

Have purged cache again but no good
  • l33p · 4 months ago
The URL "index.php/list" needs the menu link to work. If you unpublish that menu link, then Joomla! won't be able to find it. That's why, in your first post, the URL was "index.php/component/content/60" instead of the SEF URL.

Still, the "...component/con...." should work, but it doesn't. That's your second problem. To fix it, you'll have to turn off "Search Engine Friendly URLs" and also "Use Apache mod_rewrite" in the global configuration, to see what the URl is (it should look something like "index.php?option=com_content...").

If you'd like, we can continue this conversation by email!
  • dennisgreenair · 4 months ago
    OK Did thta

Got SEF unfriendly URL and if I insert this http://www.greenairclub.com/index.php?option=co... into non Linkr hyperlink (without List on Top Menu), it works

Gives me this URL when I click through http://www.greenairclub.com/index.php/directory/60

Sort of defeats the whole Linkr purpose though, so still not sure why the Linkr extension isn't giving me what I need
  • l33p · 4 months ago
That's what I'm trying to find out. The unfriendly URL looks normal, and you're only using the default Joomla! SEF plugin. I have no idea why Linkr would not work on your web site! I can only suggest that you upgrade to Joomla! 1.5.12

Linkr is great, but I was hoping that it would link to a contact's page.
If a contact has no email, it wont link, as it's trying to make a "mailto" link.
But what would be better on a Joomla site is to link to the actual contacts page (which can be done manually)
Reason? Because fewer places tom maintain email addresses, less chance of spam, and someone might want to contact by phone, snail mail etc.
    Should be easy to do!#
    Thanks!
  • l33p · 4 months ago
That's a great idea, and has already been added to the "ToDo" list. Thanks for the suggestion.

    Hello,

I'm using Joomla 1.5.10 and latest release of Linkr. While the Linkr button shows when writing an article, it does not shown when creating/editing an event in Jevents 1.5.1. Events have a text field similar to article textbox so I though it would show...

  • l33p · 4 months ago
You have to enable them in JEvents. Go to "Administrator > Components > JEvents > Configuration > Event Event Editing". Once you set the parameter "Show editors button extensions" to "yes", all your buttons will appear

Im using aiContactSafe Component as a contact form and I want to link to it directly from an article/content link.
  • l33p · 4 months ago
For the moment, the only way to do that would be to find a plugin that extends Linkr for aiContactSafe ( http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/search/... ) or create such a plugin yourself using the Linkr API: http://j.l33p.com/api/linkr/intro
  • rweiss · 4 months ago
I read that Linkr works with anchors. I'm trying to link to an anchor on another page, but the anchor doesn't show when I open Linkr to make that link. Any ideas?
  • l33p · 4 months ago
Linkr can find the anchors in the article you're linking too. If the anchor is in the page, but not the article, then Linkr won't be able to find it.
  • rweiss · 4 months ago
How does it see it? The anchor I am trying to link to is in the article.
  • l33p · 4 months ago
Once you've found the article you're linking to, click on "configure link". There, you can edit the link attributes (e.g. Title, Page target, etc). The anchors found by Linkr will be listed too.

  • Roland · 4 months ago
Out of interest in solving the problem, why do you say that there is a problem in JCE?
  • l33p · 4 months ago
Was saying that there's a bug where all of the editor buttons don't work with JCE. So, if you're getting that bug, then that's what's causing the "get link" link to not work.

    Lost ability to place images

I had this problem before, on my personal site, I believe it is an easy fix but don't remember.

I installed linkr on our non-profit site today, when I try to install new images all I see & get is box with X
  • l33p · 4 months ago
You mean whenever you insert a image, you see an "X" instead of the image? What editor are you using? Also, do you use some kind of hotlink protection in your images folder?
  • rrspman · 4 months ago
    Correct box with red x

I also now notice that when I click to insert image the pop box only shows "X", I cannpt see pictures.

Make sure to select the image only. In your screen shot, at the bottom, you can see that it says "Path: table > tbody > tr > td". You can use that to see if you've selected the image properly. When you select an image, the path should end with "img".

So, the bottom of your screen shot should look like: "Path: table > tbody > tr > td > img"

@l33p I've learned that it just happens when the article ID's higher than 100! Right know i'm trying to figure out what function is responsible for gettin' the article's ID. But I would ask you to help me since i'm not sure...
  • l33p · 4 months ago
Interesting. Do you use english on your web site? Or which other language?

The article info is fetched through a JSON request. The whole process has gotten a little complex over the months, but the original query is in the file "components/com_linkr/assets/js/article.js" (see "article-UCP.js"). Scroll to line 336 (or search for "article : function(dba)").

The actual request is sent in the file "components/.../helper.js", through the method "dbObject".

Also, you can try looking at the API documentation ( http://j.l33p.com/api/linkr ), or just post back here.

Check your parameters in "Administrator > Extensions > Linkr", then click on the "Parameters" button on the top right. Check to see that there's at least one valid folder name for the parameter "Folders"
  • WH_Wfd · 4 months ago
I didn't find your path, but I tried this on the Backend instead:
    Components > Linkr > Preferences
Then I got access to four config parameters. The 3rd one was Folders, set to "images"

Is there another important setting to look for? I don't have problems with my localhost on PHP5.

    Thanks
    Walter
  • l33p · 4 months ago
There's nothing more I can think of. Can you verify your "Path to Log folder" in "Global Configuration > System"? Is it a simple folder e.g. "/logs" or is it a subfolder e.g. "/path/to/logs"?
  • WH_Wfd · 4 months ago
Path had been set to existing folder "root/Joomla/logs". I changed it to "logs", but I don't think of any influence by this change.

    Still the same behavior
    Walter
  • l33p · 4 months ago
Your right, that won't have any effect. I just wanted to see how your site was structured.

I'm sorry to say that, by looking at it like this, I can't see where the problem would be, even with PHP4. This probably has something to do with some of your PHP settings.

In the mean time, if Linkr 2.3.3 works for you, you can use that instead (they're both similar).
  • l33p · 3 months ago
    Hi again

Do you know if your server has "mod_security" installed?
  • WH_Wfd · 3 months ago
I'm not sure about it. My product is Webpage Profi from German T-Online.
Today I've found Super Installer for Linkr 2.3.3, but after install it's the same behavior as before.

  • l33p · 3 months ago
Alright. I'll add this to the bug list. For now, you'll have to use another file manager like the "Image" button.

I was wondering if uBar reloads with the page? From what I can see, it looks like it stays constant, and I was wondering how you accomplished that? I am working on trying to make a podcast player for a Joomla site, but I want it to be able to play from page to page without interruption. Thanks
  • l33p · 4 months ago
uBar actually does reload with the page. The only way I know to achieve what you want is either through frames or with a popup window...
  • Gary · 4 months ago
Hi, first I would like to say thank you for a wonderful addon to any site.

uBar is just , well wow.

Here is what I would like to do but I am not very good at this sort of thing.

I would like to have uBar use an icon to load the AOL radio widget in a popup. This would be great for our members using this wonderful quick link to various member and visitor features and options.

In fact, when I think about it, this would be great if there was a insert widget option where as we know there are some great ones out there and having the ability using uBar to add widgets via popups would be great.

    Thansk in advance

the code for the widget is found here

    Hi

I had a look at your code, and indeed, it would be complicated to include it in uBar (found a way for Firefox, not so much luck with Internet Explorer...)

I'll keep that in mind for the next release. If you have any other suggestions, let us know!
  • majid01 · 4 months ago
    Hey everyone, Hey l33P, :)
Thank you so much for the perfect and intuitive bar for joomla!
i have few suggestions for it since it works perfect for me with no bugs :
    - This will fix all people suggestions (from widgets to components) : Ability to load modules/components withing the html links (makie it plugins enabled) (popup or even simple text bar). this way people can add widegets and whatever they want to the ubar;
    - Some CSS! i saw the css folder but how can we customize the view without going through scripts?

Otherwise, its pretty prefect (im waiting for the joomfish support!!! :) )

    thank you and Good luck!
  • l33p · 4 months ago
Thanks for the suggestion. More CSS flexibility is, in fact, on the ToDo list. Also, you can expect some documentation on CSS customization soon.

For your information, the bar itself has the ID "plg-user-toolbar". So you can use things like:

    #plg-user-toolbar {
    background-image: url(path/to/image);
    }
  • majid01 · 4 months ago
    hey l33p, :)
Im waiting for the CSS integration :)!
Is there a way to load a module when you click a button on ubar?
Is there a way to use the 'loadcontent' within the html links in ubar??
That would be great if it is possible!!!

Thank you and good luck :)
  • majid01 · 4 months ago
    Hey l33p; :)
is really urgent with this awesome ubar! and its a mmust! to make plugins enabled!!! this way you can add widgets, modules, components and all you need throught the ubar!!!

Thank you and Good Luck :)

    I use 2.3.4.
At first it was VERY slow.
Now it doesnt work at all :-(
  • l33p · 3 months ago
What happens exactly? Do you get a blank page or an error message?
  • fjellfinn · 3 months ago
  • l33p · 3 months ago
Does this happen every time you want to link an article? If so, post the article your trying to link's title and intro text here or send them to dev - at - l33p.com.

This might have something to do with Linkr having trouble encoding some characters. Having the characters first hand might help solve the problem.

Any chance of getting Linkr to work with Joomsuite (now called mighty extensions) Resources?

    Thanks
  • l33p · 3 months ago
Hopefully. I can't give you a time estimate though...
  • Patrick · 3 months ago
Thanks for the fast reply. I look forward to seeing the results - this would be extremely popular with anyone using Resources from Joomsuite/Mightyextensions.
  • Johannes · 3 months ago
What a great tool! Linkr makes it so easy to set links between many articles by just searching for the keyword. Now I noticed that "pagebreak" has also been installed. I was looking for that as I often break long articels in pages. Now I notice that it doesn't work with JCE-edited textes (the drop-down menu with the subpages doesn't appear) while it works perfect in the online demo here. JCE's created pagebreaks look like
    - maybe they are not recognized by Linkr? Does anybody have an idea? Ragards: Johannes
  • l33p · 3 months ago
    Hi Johannes

Try upgrading to the latest version of Linkr.
  • shirsc2 · 3 months ago
I seem to be having a slight problem when trying to create a link using Linkr. When i create a link from Linkr, the url generated is incorrect.

Here is an example of my problem.

    - I go into a page that is located in /Section1/Category1
    - I use Linkr to find the article that i want to link to
    - The link that should be created should point to /Section2/Category2/Article
    - However, the link created from Linkr is pointing at Category1/Section 2/Category 2/Article

So in essence, Linkr seems to be adding the category of the originating content.
The page that loads is correct but the url is not. Any ideas?
  • l33p · 3 months ago
Which version of Linkr are you using? And, are you using an SEF plugin, or just the default Joomla! SEF?

When you create a link with Linkr, use to editor to edit the link, and copy/paste it here so we can see what it looks like.
  • Scott · 3 months ago
I am using the latest version of linkr (2.3.5). downloaded it yesterday for the first time. I am also using sh404sef.

Here is what the link being created looks like:

    ?option=com_content&view=article&catid=17&id=218

Sometimes the links are created properly, sometimes they get messed up. I don't understand. It seems to be working properly for the time being. Anyone else ever have this issue?

    I appreciate the help.
  • l33p · 3 months ago
When you say sometimes it works, you mean some links work and some don't? Or do you mean the same links work sometimes and don't work other times? Also, if you turn off sh404sef and use Joomla!'s default SEF, do they work properly?

The problem could also be coming from sh404sef. It's a pretty solid plugin from what I can tell, but you never know...

Would love to see the ability to access the jlive chat as a popup like it is supposed to be. When you install jlive the link submits a popup session but when pointing to the link to from uBar, all it does it open a page with jlive embeded in the page.
  • l33p · 3 months ago
To link jlive chat, use this link: index.php?option=com_livechat&view=popup&popup=1&tmpl=component

There's a bug in uBar though, and the bar will appear again in the popup window!

    Hi
    Great addon

However, my site resides on a Hostgator server, and there are some restrictions there involving mod_security.
For example I'm using joomlafck, and to get it to display files on my server I need to whitelist "fckeditor/editor/filemanager/browser/default/browser.html" (or maybe it is connector.php... anyway).
I think I'm having similar problems with linkr. Everything works fine, even uploading files. But when it comes to listing files I just see the loading.gif.

Which Linkr file should I ask Hostgator to whitelist so that it can list files?
  • l33p · 3 months ago
Hmm... I would have to look into it. Do you have the exact white-listed URL for FCK editor?
  • Janus · 3 months ago
No, I'm not sure how they do it at Hostgator, but I believe it to be:
    http://www.mysite.net/plugins/editors/fckeditor...
  • l33p · 3 months ago
Thanks. I'll try to figure this out.
  • Janus · 3 months ago

@jonlinkr: Make sure the content plugin is enabled (it's called "Content - Linkr")

@both of you: There might be another plugin interfering with Linkr. Could you both post a list of "content" plugins installed on your web sites?

I wonder if there is an option to add a "read more" link witch display the article title rather then the image " read more" Ideal would be a button as the read more button witch adds the title as a URL link rather to open first the linkr to select the article

    Any ideas?

    Thanks
  • Janus · 3 months ago
I'm not completely sure what you mean, but the sh404sef component can add the article link to the Read more link.
In the configuration you select: "Meta/SEO" > "Insert title in Read more ... links"

Linkr is an excellent tool and would love to use it on every site. However, on J1.5.13+ the titles of "files" in Linkr do not show up, i.e. we can't read the name of the PDF files, only the PDF icon and a graphic of a link. This is also true for all graphics. Is there a fix for that?

Using 2.3.5, component (default parameters) + button plugin & content plugin enabled. PHP5, MySQL 5.
  • l33p · 3 months ago
Are you using the "simplelist" feature? If not, then the title is suppose to appear once you hover over the PDF icon. You should see "PDF - DOCUMENT NAME"
  • windgate · 3 months ago
Thank you for your response. I set the parameters to "simple file list" and I believe that will make the client happy.

    Thanks again!

Hello, I just downloaded Linkr and it's great! One of the thing I like about it is being able to link to a contact. However, I have one inquiry. I am using a different component for the contact forms called Contact Enhanced Component and Linkr can't link to that. Is there any way I can link the contact forms to the article using Linkr? Sorry I'm still new to this, and not really sure whether I should ask you or the contact form party. Would really help is someone is able to help!
  • l33p · 3 months ago
Most probably this extension needs to be integrated using the Linkr API ( http://j.l33p.com/api/linkr/intro ). I could see for myself, but it seems the extension isn't free!

Maybe the developers of Contact Enhanced can have a look at how to harmonize the two extensions.

Hi, it would be great if there would be an option in Jlinkr to use the index2.php page instead of de index.php page in linking an article. So if you use a lightbox popup you can have a page without the template.

It would be even better if you can choose lightbox as a dropdownoption in the rel field and maybe give some size information together with it.. so you get link tekst

other than that, this extension has been a real time saver.. keep up the good work!

I am getting this error when trying to select an article (from both front and backend)

    "Database Error: You have an error in your SQL syntax near '(s.id AS CHAR) IS NOT NULL AND s.id = 6 ORDER BY c.ordering ASC, c.title ASC, c.' at line 1 SQL=SELECT c.id, c.title, c.ordering FROM jos_categories AS c LEFT JOIN jos_sections AS s ON s.id = c.section WHERE c.published = 1 AND c.access <= 2 AND CAST(s.id AS CHAR) IS NOT NULL AND s.id = 6 ORDER BY c.ordering ASC, c.title ASC, c.name ASC"

You're getting that error because you have an older version of MySQL.
Joomla! recommends you use MySQL 4.1 at least.
  • ckaalund · 3 months ago
Problem - When linking to an article from inside another article the new article shows up on the same page instead of the page that it is normally shown on. This fucks up the modules that are supposed to be shown together with that article.

This only happens - as far as I know - when the article you link to does not have its own menu item, but is related to a category menu item.

Is there a way to fix this?
  • l33p · 3 months ago
You mean, the link displays the article, but with the wrong modules?
  • ckaalund · 3 months ago
Yes. It shows the article but with the wrong Itemid, and therefore with the wrong affiliation to its category.
  • l33p · 3 months ago
I see. Linkr only finds an Itemid if the article has a menu link. But not when it's associated to a category, and that category has a menu link.

There's no fix for that. I'll have to add it to the bug list.

    Hallo
Ise linkr on all my sites, however onone recent one using JCE, Joomla 1.5.10, linkr now does not work for linking and more importantly the {linkr:none} is not working. I use this for the related articles and social bookmarks as much as for the linking. Is there a know issue?
    to see:
    http://www.computergraphicstraining.co.uk/train...
Within the article "who should attend" I have added it but the code shows without this it would appear in related articles. Could it be because is several articles loaded through a module? Any ideas welcome as I am loathe to disable it.
  • l33p · 3 months ago
I can't tell you what the problem is. You would have to tell me what extension that is, so that I could see for myself.
  • kupkake · 3 months ago
Hallo, thanks for response, LINKR is the component I am using and all the pages are straight Joomla articles in specific category/section with {linkr:none} added to some articles. These are then "gathered" using a module yoo_accordian referencing said category and then loaded into a page setup with Event_List component with {loadposition xx}. it has worked before fine, so I wondered if it was JCE that was causing problem.
    Thanks
  • l33p · 3 months ago
Looks like the YOOaccordion is a commercial extension... so i can't test this for myself. I don't think the problem is with JCE. If you see "{linkr:none}", it's probably because of the YOOaccordion extension.

You would have to check with them.

Tip: Linkr does in fact use "plugin events" (in case they ask you)
  • kupkake · 3 months ago

Check your media parameters in "Global Configuration > System > Media Settings". Linkr uses those "Legal Extensions" to filter the files, so you can add which ever extension you like.

Ok...jsut noticed that AJAX doesn't work in modules when used in the ubar

Or, we could do it so that it "refreshes" when you click the button
  • l33p · 2 months ago

  • joedunn · 2 months ago
Well, I uninstalled QContacts - troubleshooting and all.

Now when I use Linkr it still shows the categories but no contacts for any categories. I have numerous contact in each category.

    Any Ideas?

  • l33p · 2 months ago
Linkr needs to be extended to use it with QContacts. I don't think i've seen any QContact/Linkr plugin out there, but you can always search the Joomla! directory: http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/search/...

I don't know why your contacts are not showing. Note that Linkr will only display contacts that are published. Linkr will also check for the access level, so if you're logged in as a "registered" user, but the contacts are set to show only to "special" users, Linkr wont display the contacts.

I am using verison 2.3.5 and my URL's are displaying as about/past-events/23.html instead of about/past-events/spring-show-2009.html. I have read the FAQ and says to go into extensions > plugin manager > then to the linkr plugin and select advanced parameters to fix it, but mine doesn't display advanced parameters, in fact it says "there are no parameters for this plugin" Any ideas???
  • l33p · 2 months ago
They're two plugins. One is "Editor Button - Linkr", and the other is "Content - Linkr". Look for the one called "Content - Linkr".
  • kshayne · 2 months ago
    Not doing anything.

I've tried everything I can to get Linkr working but just doesn't do anything. I can navigate through the interface but when you do "Get Link" it doesn't do anything.

I've uninstalled/reinstalled (through Joomla), tried various browsers, different editors, etc. No dice.

Any advise would be great. Really love the product because I can link without creating "hidden menus" to articles.

Can Linkr hyperlink point from an article to an anchor within a Category description? I'm having trouble setting this up. Do I need any thing additional, apart from knowledge?
  • l33p · 1 month ago
Linkr assumes that you wouldn't put an anchor in a category/section description. So you can't link an anchor unless it's in an article.

    Is that a feature request?

I just installed the latest version of Linkr (2.3.6) on a new site and when I try to use it when creating a menu item the only link shown is labeled Linkr (do not link)... with a tag comment that states "This link was found automatically by Joomla! but will not link"... what does this mean? Is there another extension conflicting with Linkr? Did I screw up installation? (everything looked fine...)
  • Ghostgames · 1 month ago
So in doing some troubleshooting I uninstalled the most recent version and installed the 2.3.5a version (which I have successfully installed & used on other websites) but no love there, either. Same single unusable link is the only one that appears.

Try using the uncompressed Linkr files: Go to "Administrator > Extensions > Plugin manager > Content - Linkr > Advanced parameters" and set "Compress JS Files" to "No". Also, if you're not already using Linkr 2.3.6, try upgrading.
  • Clint Lanier · 1 month ago
The errors are occurring with compress-> yes (and compress-> no). I'm also using 2.3.6---I like the interface were it not for this bug. Could it be some unicode error? Something that's being inserted dynamically and then flagged by IE?

    Hello...

I'm interested in what kind of modules could be used as an "external handler".

I ask this because I've been trying to find a module that shows the most recent articles by LINK rather than by category or section but so far, I've not seen anything like that out there.

So can I jerryrig a Linkr "external handler" module to do that for me? And where might I find compatible modules? I didn't see any on JED.

    Hey there,

Linkr seems to have busted on me -- not sure why or how. After clicking on the Linkr button while editing an article I get the "busy/loading circle image" and nothing else. If I type a string in the search field I get the same (lack of) results. I'm working on a Mac, and this occurs in both Firefox and Safari. Using Tiny MCE 3.2.4.1 on Joomla 1.5.14, using Linkr version 2.3.6.

Thanks for any help you can offer,

Can you use the demo on your mac ( http://j.l33p.com/linkr/demo )?

Try setting "debug" to "yes" in "Components > Linkr > Parameters". Then go back to an article and click on the Linkr button. There should be a new link labeled "Debug". Use it to try and find what works and what doesn't.
  • Gregg Primm · 1 month ago
A little extra info. I went to a backup version of my site that had Linkr 2.3.0 installed and it worked without any issues. I've since done a variety of upgrades, uninstalls, and reinstalls on that site and found that no versions later than 2.3.0 will function on the site at all -- all of them show the same results (spinning "loading/busy" circle image with no results). However, uninstalling everything and just in stalling 2.3.0 gets me functional again. No idea whether this additional info will help or not ....

    Hi!
It seems that Linkr is not working correctly on my site right now, and it's probably since I've upgraded to v2.3.6. The symptom: I try to link an article, but the generated URL leads to the section, not to the article.
One of the URLs generated by Linkr:
    index.php?option=com_content&view=section&layout=blog&id=13&Itemid=113
and the correct URL would be something like:
    index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1191:edison-chen-koon-hei&catid=37&Itemid=113
Can you give any advice? The links created earlier are still working. My joomla is v1.5.14.
  • l33p · 1 month ago
When looking for an article, make sure to go through the section and category. Selecting a section will link the section, selecting a category will link the category. Only once you've picked an article will the article be linked.
  • user · 1 month ago
Yeah I did like that, or by using the search function, but the results are the same. And as I've sad before it was working properly earlier.
  • l33p · 1 month ago
I'm not sure what's going on for you. I'll have to look into it. Does this happen for all articles? or maybe uncategorized articles/articles in a specific section?

Also, are any of you using an SEF plugin like sh404sef or Artio JoomSEF?
  • user · 1 month ago
I don't really have uncategorized articles. And it seems that it doesn't matter what section the article is.
By the way I am using a SEF plugin called AceSEF, but I also tried using Linkr without SEF plugin (by disabling it).

Hi Kaliya. I did some quick investigating, and I have found the problem. Linkr uses the MooTools javascript library, which comes included in joomla!. But yours is a newer version that doesn't come by default with Joomla!, and incidentally isn't compatible with Linkr.

When we want to add a file using Linkr and the editor plugin, the file list is displayed as icons with no filename underneath. This changed from the previous versions (we use the latest 2.3.6), where a partial filename was displayed at the bottom of each file.

Filename using tooltip is not practical, as we have to hover the mouse through the entire directory in order to find the correct file.

How can the partial filename be shown under the file icon or another view (eg detailed) can be activated?

I think Plugin Linkr is good. I love it, But there is a thing that bothers me alot. It couldn't pass the w3c validator. It kept asking me to fix the ampersand such as here :

    …2Farticle%2F28-art-soc-bookmrk.html&title=ArtSocBookmark&bodytext=%3Cdiv%3E%7.

with error message : "Cannot generate system identifier for general entity "title"

I have been seacrhing thru forums, and been scanning the documentation, but so far I could not get the answer. Other errors of other files had been overcome so far. The question is which source file should i open to fix it in order to pass the validator.

    Thask in advance
  • l33p · 1 week ago
This is fixed by using "& amp;" instead of "&" in the URL (where it looks like ...bookmrk.html&title=...). Linkr does that automatically, but sometimes the editor will convert it back to the single character "&".

You can test that by editing a new article, inserting a link using linkr, and viewing the "source" code (there's usually a button for that). Which editor are you using by the way?
  • daalouw · 2 weeks ago
    Hello.

I have installed and configured Linkr successfully. An issue that I have is that I am trying to link to files in a "documents" folder I created. However, when I use the Linkr button, it defaults to my "images" folder. I changed the global parameters in the Linkr component screen to go to the "documents" folder but that is not helping at all. It still forces me to the "images" folder without the option of changing the folder it sends me to.

Your help will be much appreciated.

First, you should check that the directory actually exists. Second, you should also check the permissions on that directory (maybe Linkr can't access it).

I have been using Linkr for about a week now and everything was working great until today. Suddenly the links are no longer SEF on any new article links I'm creating, or on old article links that have been modified. The ones that were correct and haven't been touched are still the same and working.

So the links were like this:
    mywebsite.com/find-a-product/blue-widgets/2-product-abc.html

And today the exact same article link gets configured as
    index.php?option=com_content&view=article&catid=1:general&id=2:product-abc

I'm (almost) positive that I didn't make any changes. Am I losing my mind, or is there a setting that needs to be changed so the URLs are SEF again?
  • katnr · 1 week ago
Okay, that's just wierd. I downloaded JCE and when I created a link using JCE in one of the articles everything went back to normal, even when using Linkr. I must be losing my mind...
  • l33p · 1 week ago
That's ok. But maybe it's not you; there could be another content plugin that's interfering with Linkr (and JCE). Have you installed any new content plugins? Or have you changed any settings in another plugin?

1- Try setting Linkr to debug mode (in "Components > Linkr > Parameters") and editing an article. You should see a new "Debug" link. Click on it, then click on "Database tests", then click on every other link.

Been using linkr with the newest version of XHTMLSuite editor and when creating a link it isn't replacing the text with the link but instead is making a copy of the highlighted text and placing the created link usually at the end of the line or paragraph. I'm wondering if anyone has encountered this problem before I haven't seen it in the other comments or any searches. The built in external link functions of the editor don't have this issue so i'm not sure if its a linkr problem, template problem or what.

So if I was to link the word "Spot" in "See Spot Run", I end up with "See Spot RunSpot", with the second occurrence being the actual link.

    Hi.
I have tried Linkr and must say there is much to like.

One thing I would like to see support for is this:
Possible to link to a product in VirtueMart.

    Suggestion on how to implement:
Similar to how linking to an article is done:

Default: Show a list box with categories (tree structure), as well as a Search link, and eventually a "Show all products". Would be nice if we could see if a product is published or not though.

    Much wanted feature!!!!

One thing I do not like though is the way Linkr change my original text when I click the Get Link.

    ** UPDATE START **
Huhh.. seems like this is a problem in CKeditor for Joomla, and not JoomlaFckEditor

Is this Linkr or is it CKeditor for Joomla?

If Linkr has to be changed, then I hope you can do it: Here is link to CKeditor for Joomla:

    http://extensions.joomla.org/extensions/edition...
    ** UPDATE END **
Example. In the editor I type some text, then select it, then click the Linkr button below the
editor. When I have selected my article within Linkr UI, and click Get Link then my original marked text are substituted with the title for the article.

I find it counterintuitive the way this works now. I would like to see a new listbox in Linkr plugin in the backend where I can control how this works. One option there should be the possibility to not get your original text changed.

Is there any possibility to get this new feature also?

    Hi,

I've been a proud user of Linkr version 2.3.0b for a long time. Today I decided to upgrade it to the latest version, but I found that the "related articles" link just don't work like before. When I type in a key word with accentuated characters (like linhaça or limão, or anything with ãeó... etc etc), the plugin says "no results". It used to work in version 2.3.0b. How can I fix that?
    Thank you

For some reason, Linkr stopped working. I am using 2.3.6. The Linkr window comes up, but it won't let me select any articles or menu items. For articles, it will let me select a section, but then nothing else comes up. For menu items, the menus show up, but it will not let me click on any of them
